By default, members sign in to their accounts through a one-time magic link sent by email. They can also create a password and use it for future sign-ins. In this help article, we’ll explain how members can create passwords and how to require members to sign in with magic links instead.

Ways members can create a password

Members can create a password:
  • immediately after signing up through a custom field
  • after requesting a magic sign-in link
  • from the magic sign-in email
  • through a password reset in their account

Disable password support

In the Memberful dashboard, go to Settings → Passwords, then toggle off Support passwords.

Toggling off Support passwords does not hide the Account password custom field that can appear after sign-up. If you previously added this field, disable the custom field.
