Product Update

More control in WordPress

Thoughtful improvements to the Memberful WordPress plugin, with more on the way.

If you’ve been with us since the early days, you know Memberful was built to work closely with WordPress. That hasn’t changed, and today’s release kicks off a steady stream of improvements as we deepen our investment in the experience.

In practice, that means turning long-standing WordPress requests into native, supported features — replacing manual setups and custom code.

Here’s what’s happening now.

Memberful WordPress Plugin Updates 🆕

Create a user role for each plan

Many of you have asked for finer control over how Memberful assigns roles in WordPress. Up until now, your only option was to assign one role for active members and another for inactive members.

With this update, you can now automatically sync a member’s plan to a matching WordPress role. This gives you more flexibility to personalize experiences and control access based on exactly how someone supports your work.

Show protected content in search

You told us that keeping protected posts out of search makes it tougher for new visitors to find content worth joining for.

Now you can decide whether or not to show post titles and teasers in search results, while still protecting the full content. Your site, your members, your call.

Use Memberful with WordPress blocks

Shortcodes have served their purpose, but the future of WordPress editing is block-based.

We’re expanding Memberful’s tools to every block in the WordPress block editor, making it easier and cleaner to manage access rules directly where you build your content.

Coming soon 🔜

We’re also working on a no-code setting to let you offer your members an ad-free experience on your WordPress site.

This renewed focus on WordPress is part of our ongoing mission: to give you the flexibility, control, and craftsmanship you need to build a membership that lasts.

More updates soon.
